Our Story

Update: The CriticiseAI team is excited to share that our tool is now live! *Exciting updates coming soon* (10/02/24)

Our mission.

CriticiseAI is on a mission to improve the student experience using artificial intelligence. Our team is leveraging the power of AI to develop a tool that improves the quality, timeliness, and personalisation of student learning – while empowering educators.

Our journey.

CriticiseAI emerged as a result of the three founders’ personal academic experiences. Our founding team recognised the challenges of receiving quality and timely feedback. The team was inspired to create an AI solution that complements the existing educational framework, that empowers teachers to deliver their feedback more often and in greater quantities – while preserving a high academic standard. We are currently supervising two University of Stirling Undergraduate student research projects to prove our tool’s value to the student experience.

Our tool.

The feedback tool is currently in Alpha. We have a working prototype that provides comprehensive feedback on university-level written assignments from most subjects. The feedback provided includes a general assignment overview and a list of key improvements to be made. The combination of our tool’s personalisation and quality allows students to achieve their best work before the deadline. We have had consistent success in processing university-level essays of around 2500 words in under two minutes. Our capacity to process larger essays at greater speeds is rapidly evolving.

Our aspirations.

The CriticiseAI team is working on developing software in direct consultation with university and college experts to ensure it meets academic standards and misconduct regulations. We aspire to continuously engage with both student, teacher and administrative stakeholders to ensure our tool best meets all parties’ needs. We are also planning to engage in research and pilot projects with student groups to fine-tune our approach and further prove the quantifiable value we bring to the student experience. The tool holds particular promise for non-native English speakers and students from underprivileged backgrounds, aiming to bridge gaps in educational equity. In the future, the CriticiseAI team plans on developing a full suite of AI-powered education tools, beyond just feedback.

Our updates.

We have lots of exciting announcements coming soon – follow our LinkedIn page and other socials to never miss an update.
